3 healthy recipes made from gram flourp


 Monsoon has arrived and every time the rains bring a new feeling.  So is it necessary that every time it should be celebrated with pakodas only.  Try something different and healthy this time.


 In the rainy season, everyone remembers dumplings made from gram flour.  


Gram flour is beneficial for your health, but don't overdose on pakodas made from gram flour!  Now that doesn't mean we're asking you to compromise on taste. 


 There are many recipes made with gram flour that are both tasty and healthy for you!  Also, you can eat them as breakfast in the morning or evening during the rainy season.


 Besan is a treasure trove of nutrients


 Besan is a storehouse of nutrients! Let us tell you that according to the USDA Food Composition Database – 1 cup of gram flour contains 10 grams of fiber, 20 grams of protein, 53 carbs, 25% iron and many other important nutrients, which are beneficial for health.


 So let's know three healthy and tasty recipes made from gram flour


 1. Gujarati Khandvi


 To make this you need – 1 cup gram flour, one tablespoon ginger and green chili paste, salt as required, 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric, 1 pinch asafoetida, 3 cups buttermilk, 3 tablespoons refined oil, 1 big  tsp lemon juice, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 2 tsp grated coconut, 1/2 g coriander leaves


 How to make Gujarati Khandvi


 First, add ginger-green chili paste, salt, turmeric powder, lemon juice and buttermilk to the gram flour.  Take care not to form lumps.  In a thick bottomed pan, cook the mixture while stirring continuously till it becomes a smooth thick batter.


 Now spread the long and thin part of the mixture as thinly as possible on the oiled inverted plate, keep in mind that the solution should be hot. 


 Then when cool, cut into two-inch-wide strips and roll them up tightly, taking care not to break them.


 Now heat two tablespoons of oil for tempering and add a pinch of asafoetida and mustard seeds.  When they start to crackle or crack, pour over the pieces. 


 Just serve the homemade gujarati khandvi immediately.  Garnish with grated fresh coconut and finely chopped coriander leaves.  Your Gujarati Khandvi is ready!


 2. Besan Cheela


 To make besan cheela you need – 1 cup gram flour, 1 cup water, salt as per taste, 1/2 onion, chopped, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon carom seeds, 1 green chili chopped,

 4 tsp oil (for frying)


 How to make Besan Cheela


 Mix all the ingredients except the oil, adding water little at a time, to make a thick batter.  Leave this solution for 15-20 minutes.  


Now heat a pan and pour oil on it, after the oil is hot, keeping the flame high, spread some batter in the middle of the pan. 


 Lower the flame and let it cook till the edges turn light brown.


 Now turn it over and cook it from the other side as well and serve hot with green chutney.


 3. Khaman Dhokla


 To make Khaman Dhokla you need – 1 cup gram flour, 1 tbsp sugar, salt to taste, a pinch of turmeric, water, 1 tbsp fruit salt/baking powder (dissolved in water), for tempering: 1 tbsp  Oil, 1/2 tbsp mustard seeds, 1 dry red chilli, 7-8 curry leaves


 To make Khaman Dhokla


 Mix besan, salt, sugar and turmeric in a bowl.  Pour fruit salt or baking powder into a glass.


  Add water to it and pour it into the dhokla mixture.  Grease the steaming tin with 2 drops of oil and pour the mixture into it.  


Let it cook for about 15-20 minutes.  For tempering, add oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chillies in a pan.  


Pour the tempering over the prepared dhokla.  Cut into pieces and serve.
